On Jan.25, Shaanxi was fine and sunny. In the morning, Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of People’s Republic of China and Chairman of Military Commission of the CPC Central Committee, paid a visit to our company for inspection on our independent innovation. Board Chairman Li Dakai and Secretary Cui Weike extended warm welcome to the President on behalf of all the employees. Together with President Hu were Ling Jihua, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the Central Committee, Wang Luning, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and Director of the Policy Research Centre of the Central Committee, Sun Qingyun, member of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Party Committee and Secretary of Xi’an Municipal Party Committee, Wei Minzhou, member of the Standing Committee of Shaanxi Party Committee and Secretary-General of Shaanxi Party Committee, Chen Baogen, Mayor of Xi’an City, etc.
With the company of Chairman Li and Secretary Cui, President Hu visited the new product exhibition area and the production lines such as the gear machining, the transmission assembly and the heat treatment. Chairman Li gave the President an introduction on the manufacturing procedures, the science content, the performance, the application and the market share of transmission products and the achievements the company has made in scientific development, independent innovations, new product research & development, production & operation and market exploration. President Hu was quite excited after learning that we have developed into the domestic largest HD transmission manufacturer from a small and unknown one, each economic index has ranked 1st in Chinese Gear Industry for eight consecutive years, the annual output and sales of HD transmissions have leapt to the first place in the world for four consecutive years, now we have obtained more than 40 patents and the sales revenue of 2009 of our company went up by 20% compared with that of the previous year. He encouraged us to further deepen reform, enhance innovating ability, maintain the advantage in technology and continuously improve the competitiveness. “It’s rather hard for you to obtain such an excellent achievement,” the President praised while hearing the report from Chairman Li.
President Hu also made a detailed understanding of the history of the corporate development. “As an old Chinese going ‘one should never forget its origin’, it’s good for you to keep your old plant updated while you built new and modern ones”, the President remarked when he learnt that we have built our original Baoji Plant into a nationwide first-class casting & forging production base, now the plant is undergoing a rapid development, and more than 3000 employees work and live there.
“Here he comes! How are you doing?” the workers cheered up. They gave ebullient applause to welcome the President. With gentle smile, President Hu waved to greet. In the combination production workshop, President Hu visited the countershaft lean production line, the gear machining production line, the transmission assembly line and the heat treatment line. He shook hands with the operators on each site and chatted with them to get a detailed understanding of their work and life.
On the countershaft production line, the President was quite satisfied when Chairman Li gave an introduction on the good results we’ve obtained in scientific improvements, efficiency enhancement and cost reduction by deeply developing the activity of lean production.
During the visit, President Hu paid much attention to the issues such as the application of new energy, new technology and new material as well as the energy saving and environment-friendliness of products. When hearing that the transmission with aluminum-alloy case which is independently designed, developed and manufactured by ourselves weights 100kg less than the transmission with traditional iron case, he was quite excited and said: “The successful experience you’ve obtained in energy saving, environment friendliness and weight reduction are worth learned and referred to by the other enterprises.”
On the transmission assembly line, when the President saw a young worker (whose name is Wang Weimin) flinging himself into the busy scene, he smiled. “How skilled and neat this young man is!” President Hu praised and then stepped up shaking hands with the worker. “What’s your academic degree? How many years have you worked in this company? Are you tired?” the President asked and also he encouraged the young man to love his job and work harder so as to make more contribution to the company.
We must insist on independent innovation, strive to enhance our ability in innovations, and accelerate the transformation of economic development pattern and the adjustment of economic structure, and only in this way could we develop us into an equipment manufacture power rather than an equipment manufacture big country, President Hu noted. He wished that while introducing, digesting and absorbing the overseas advanced technologies, we could continue to innovate and develop more new products with our own intellectual property rights in core technologies, and make even bigger contribution to the development of the national equipment manufacture industry.
During the visit, Chairman Li Dakai made a report on the production & operation and the innovative development of the company: in 2009, we firmly seized the new opportunities that the national stimulus package had brought and successfully stood the severe test of the global financial crisis. New breakthrough was made. The industrial output and the sales revenue both surpassed 7.5 billion yuan and the output and sales volume both exceeded 550,000 units. Facing the future, we will further speed up the pace of scientific & technological progress and innovative development, and catch up with the world’s leading technologies. President Hu encouraged that we should firmly grasp the opportunity that the country has brought in supporting the development of the national equipment manufacture industry, adhere to independent innovation, continue to deepen reform and realize scientific development, and in this way we could make new and even more contribution to the development of Chinese equipment manufacture industry and the national automotive industry.
“Practice proves that rapid growth can be made only after you stick to independent innovation and scientific development. I hope Fast Group can work even harder, make our national brand resounding, realize new and bigger growth and strive to win glory for our nation and country,” the President told Chairman Li and Secretary Cui when he took the leave. On behalf of all the employees, Chairman Li and Secretary Cui expressed sincere thanks to Hu for his concerns and encouragement.
“The President spoke highly of the achievements we have made in the course of innovative development, and he also encouraged us to further speed up the pace of independent innovation and to continuously deepen reform. It is definitely a tremendous encouragement to us. We must implement the spirits of President Hu and never fail his expectations. We must speed up the pace of growth with firm faith, and enhance the strength in innovations and core competitiveness in an all-round way,” Chairman Li told the employees after the President’s visit.
