New Year’s Address

Another New Year comes. Fast Gear says goodbye to the fruitful outcome year of 2009 and welcome the year of 2010 that will be full of hopes, opportunities and challenges. I, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Party Committee, the Management team, and the Labor Union of Fast Group, would like to send my sincere new year wishes and heartfelt thanks to all the employees, their family members, and retired workers that have made great contributions to the company, and to the leaders at all levels and friends in all the circles that have given us their regards and support.
The year of 2009 witnessed the most difficulties that the company had undergone and the biggest achievement it had never made. In the course of scientific development, we went through severe challenges of global financial crisis and market competition, all of our employees worked very hard and accomplished new historical high for production and sales; the annual industrial output and sales revenue both surpassed 7.5 billion yuan, and the annual production and sales of transmissions both exceeded 550,000 units; each economic index reached another new historical high. All of these was yielded by the joint efforts of all our employees.
Through almost ten years’ rapid growth, the annual industrial output and sales revenue of the company have increased to more than 7.5 billion yuan from original 100 million yuan; each economic index has ranked 1st in Chinese gear industry for 8 consecutive years and the annual production and sales of heavy-duty transmissions have leapt to the first place in the world for four consecutive years. The equipment manufacturing ability, the automated production ability, the product innovating ability, and the product population in the market have totally changed as compared to those of the past. It is inevitable that we will be facing with even bigger difficulties as the company is increasingly growing. All our employees must have a clear understanding of that. People are motivated only when crises occurred and only when we face it. We can work even harder and enjoy working to create a better life in confronting the challenge.
We witnessed joyous events one by one last year. We won a title of “the National Top 10 SOE’s Models” and received qualification of “the State-Level Enterprise Technical Center”; Brand name Fast transmissions were rewarded Fuel Saving Achievement Award and the Best Fuel-Saving Transmissions; our products were quite popular and received good comments from end users; the two-millionth transmission was successfully off the production line, and the innovating ability and the competitiveness of the company were promoted greatly; the technical alterations in the four plants in Xi’an and Baoji cities were quite outstanding, and the automated production ability stepped into another new arena. At the same time, through the activities of “KTJ”, lean manufacturing and lean management, the company made splendid achievements in various aspects, including scientific & technological innovation, product research & development, market exploitation, quality improvement, cost control, brand name and service network building. The science content of old products has been improving continuously and the R&D of new products turned out in an endless way. The demand of a series of new transmission models developed by ourselves is increasing in the market. They are manufactured in large scale now and have been fully adapted to meet the market needs such as fuel saving, energy saving, innovation and environmental protection. The achievements we have made in the course of reform & development and innovative development were fully recognized and praised highly by the government leaders. In 2009, Wen Jiabao, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Zhang Dejiang visited our company one after another and they gave us great concern and encouragement.
A new year comes and everything is refreshing. The year of 2010 is a crucial year for us to realize breakthrough development. Fast Group has established the theme of 2010 as “KTJ Advance Year”. In activities of “KTJ Advance Year”, we’ll take lean manufacturing and lean management as the theme, focus on scientific improvements, scientific & technological innovations, efficiency promotion, cost reduction, product R&D, market exploitation, management enhancement and customer service improvements, further boost the sense of urgency, crisis and mission, build strong and firm confidence, make persistent efforts, seize opportunities, fight for good results and accelerate the pace of the harmonious development among the employees, the company and the society and strive to create a harmonious, stable and civilized living and working environment.
One should start a business under favorable circumstances and since now it’s a long way to go to our destination, we must continuously urge ourselves and make persistent efforts. During this new year, we’ll not only face unprecedented challenges but also have an opportunity of a lifetime in the company history. Let’s follow the leadership of Fast Group, bravely overcome difficulties, and with fighting spirit and a courage as starting a new business, further liberate the thinking mind, be pioneering and innovative, do a solid job and drive the company to have a better and faster development and create a more beautiful and brighter future for Fast Group.
